EAST MIDLANDS COACH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME JANUARY – FEBRUARY 2009

A coach qualification or upgrade in little over a month!

Would-be coaches who want to start on the coaching ladder, and England Fencing registered coaches already qualified at Levels 1 or 2 are invited to apply for the next East Midlands Region England Fencing Coach development programme which will be run in Nottingham on the following dates:

Sunday 25th January First Aid and Child Protection Seminars

Saturday 31st Jan (Introduction to programme, and to coaching)

Sunday 1st Feb Practical and theory

Sunday 15th Feb Practical and theory

Sunday 22nd Feb (Mock assessments and more practice)

Saturday 28th Feb (Assessment – Practical and Theory)

Following feedback from previous programmes we have set dates in a more concentrated sequence rather than spreading the course out over three months. We are hoping that with the advanced notice as many as possible would-be coaches or coaches seeking their next qualification will sign up for the programme. We are delighted to announce that the programme will be lead by Prof. Graham Stretton, a distinguished East Midlands Region coach and coach educator.

Costs are as follows:

Full course (including England Fencing registration, First Aid Programme, 'Safeguarding and Protecting Children' Course, CRB Form, Trainee Manual, text book, and assessment fee, with share of venue hire costs and coach educator costs) £240

Those who have registered separately with EF (includes First Aid Programme, 'Safeguarding and Protecting Children' Course, CRB Form, with share of venue hire costs and coach educator costs) £200

Those who hold a current (less than 3 years old) valid First Aid Certificate may deduct £35 from this figure.

Those who hold a current (less than 3 years old) valid certificate of course attendance for 'Safeguarding and Protecting Children' may deduct £25 from this figure.

Participants who are wholly or partly volunteer coaches are encouraged to seek whole or part sponsorship from their clubs, or coaching bursaries from their local County Sports Partnership or other sources (including England Fencing), to support the cost of this course. Self-employed coaches can claim the course costs as a legitimate business expense.

Applicants should apply for the programme using the registration form attached and send it together with a cheque for the full fee (less any discounts, see above) made payable to East Midlands Region England Fencing to
